At the last-minute on Christmas day, I was trying to decide what dessert to make for a reception on the same day. Then, I remembered a delicious dark chocolate tart I once raved about in a café and decided to replicate it using what I had in my pantry.
Here’s my lazy version of a chocolate ganache tart in three simple steps:
1- Crust
This is the easiest step: cook a store-bought pie shell according to the instructions on the package.
2- Caramel Layer
Make some homemade salted caramel. It takes less than 15 minutes and once you have the twist, it’s really simple. The trick is to start to add the cream almost as soon as the color of the sugar and water turns to amber. If you wait too long, it will have a burnt taste. Click here for the complete caramel recipe. Once the caramel has cooled a bit, put it in the pie shell and refrigerate for 20 minutes.
3- Chocolate Layer
Make a chocolate ganache. To make a ganache, you only need three ingredients: butter, cream, and chocolate. For my tart, I used dark chocolate chips. Click here for the complete ganache recipe. Once the mix has cooled a bit, put the ganache in the pie shell. Refrigerate for 1 hour before serving. It will give the ganache time to set.
For the final touch, you can put raspberries on top of the tart to make it prettier and add a beautiful fruity taste.
In the end, it tasted great and everybody loved it! On my part, I really liked the fact that it was really easy to make and that I could use ingredients I already had at home.
I hope you are having a great holiday season 🙂
